SUMMARY:Saint Verde Farmhouse Open Garden
LOCATION:Dargle Valley
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome Saint Verde Farmhouse to Blackwood's Open Midla
nds Gardens for the very first time. They will be open on Sat 17 & Sun
18 October.\nSet amongst the beautiful landscape of the Dargle Valley, this
enchanting garden brings together French-inspired courtyard gardens, eleme
nts of the traditional English garden and a wonderfully atmospheric Karoo-s
tyle succulent garden.\nThe garden unfolds around historic stone buildings
and an elegant glass conservatory, creating a series of intimate and beauti
fully considered spaces. Established trees frame secluded courtyards, while
formal planting, raised beds and a tranquil water feature provide moments
of structure and symmetry.\nBeyond these more formal garden rooms, the land
scape opens into indigenous forest, rivers, dams and sweeping valley views,
offering a wonderful contrast between cultivated garden and the natural be
auty of the surrounding countryside.\nOne of the garden's particular highli
ghts is its Karoo-inspired succulent garden, where an intriguing collection
of succulents creates a landscape of texture, form and sculptural beauty.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the beautiful glass cons
ervatory, brought to the farm all the way from France.\nThe story of Saint
Verde Farmhouse is woven into the property itself. An 18th-century stone ba
rn has been transformed into the farmhouse, while the farm shop offers a be
autiful collection of ceramics created on the property by Hazel’s Daughter,
together with dinnerware, fabrics, linens, antiques and furniture.\nGarden
furniture, pastries and refreshments will also be available during the Ope
n Garden. A garden of contrasts, history and remarkable atmosphere, and a b
eautiful new addition to the Blackwood's Open Midlands Gardens.\nDates: Sat
 17 & Sun 18 October\nAddress: Saint Verde Farmhouse, 21 D666 Dargle Va
lley, Lions River\nTimes: 8am to 4pm\nDirections: Turn off of the R103 into
the Dargle Valley (just before Piggly Wiggly) and continue for 14.4 km. At
the sign post for 'Saint Verde or Hazel's Daughter' turn right onto D666.
Continue for approximately 1.8 km. Your destination will be on the left.\nE
ntrance Fee: R10p/p\nPartially wheelchair friendly\n\n
