Care after sexual assualt:
- Get to a safe place.
- You can get help by going to Angel's Care Crisis Centre.
- Tell someone you trust and ask them to go with you to get help.
- Remember not to take a bath or shower, and not to go to the toilet if possible.
- Do not change your clothes unless you really have to. Use paper to cover your clothes not plastic.
- In order to get a PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) to prevent you contracting HIV you must be seen at Angels' Care Crisis Centre within 72 hours.
- Remember there is also treatment available to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections as a result of sexual assault.
- It is always important to seek help if you have been sexually assaulted, no matter how long after the event.
