With the improvement in the weather, it is good to see an increase of members on the greens and also to welcome past members and social members who come to watch and to join us for tea.
On Wednesday of this past week the tabs in competition sponsored by J Leslie Smith & Co Inc and The Health Nut was played. It gave us great pleasure to have Lisa Nagel of J Leslie Smith join us on the green. Well done, Lisa! We enjoyed having you play alongside us. Crystal Dellar of J Leslie Smith joined us later to present the prizes to the winners, Tony Gage. Balf Balfour, Graham Sharp and Barry Fairbrother, and to the runners up, Ian Andrews, Julia Strachan and Pat Ciro.
On Saturday, after a short game of bowls, the club's AGM was held. The following were elected to the committee: Bernice Burden (President), Peter Burton (Vice-President), Bernice Meyer (Treasurer), Graeme Cameron (Secretary) Colin Burden (Competition Secretary), Tim Waring (Assistant Competition Secretary). Alan Wells (Refreshment Manager), Piet van Rensburg (Green Keeper), Rita Aitken and Denise Rocher (Catering Co-ordinators).
In addition the following were elected to be selectors: Barbara Brook, Margie Holl, Barry Bedworth, Ray Bester and John Withers.
On Saturday evening Colin and Bernice Burden attended the NIBA Dinner and Prize-giving where Colin accepted the Lambert Brothers Trophy on behalf of the men who played in the teams during the 2015 season. This is the second year running that the Trophy has come to Umgeni Waterfall Bowling Club. During the Prize Giving ceremony the NIBA Squads for Inter-District and Inter-Provincial teams for 2016 were announced. Colin and Bernice were selected to skip the Men's and Ladies' President Teams which will play in the Inter-District Quadrangular to be held in Margate.
