uMngeni Community, where the community keeps themselves safe. The UCSI camera system has been expanded and given a few more eyes to combat vehicle driven crimes.
September was a challenging month. A substantial increase in vehicle theft through out the country. Unfortunately, some from within the uMngeni area. We did have some successes though and the new cameras came into play to assist with identification.
We have some new eyes on the road thanks to Magma Security.
1 Sep
Hilton; A vehicle reported as stolen activated cameras. It was stopped by AET Members where it was found to have been recovered but not cleared off the SAPS system. Owner will have it cleared themselves
7 Sep
Hilton; A vehicle reported as stolen in PIETERMARITZBURG activated the cameras. The vehicle was stopped in Howick area thanks to AET and SAPS. Matter handed over to SAPS.
18 Sep
Howick; A stolen vehicle report activated the SAPS UCSI response group. The KSS ops room assisted with finding photos of the vehicle. Thanks to new upgrades, vehicle movement was found but unfortunately the vehicle was lost due to reckless speeds on rural road.
21 Sep
Hilton; A vehicle reported as stolen at BELLAIR, activated the cameras. It stopped by Magma with assistance by AET. Again found to have been recovered but not cleared off system.
23 Sep
Howick; Another vehicle hit reported as stolen at BROOKLYN was loaded to the response group. Magma stopped the vehicle in Howick and Flying squad member checked on details. Vehicle owner rectified problem with reg plate and allowed to continue on journey.
23 Sep
Merrivale; Camera activation for fraud case was sent to the response group. With assistance from Flying Squad members, Hilton SAPS, Magma and AET the Vehicle was stopped and suspects detained.
30 Sep
Mpophomeni; A vehicle suspected in house robbery activated cameras. Thanks to KSS and Ballid for a successful stop.
Be safe and vigilant at all times. If something feels "off" report it to your local CPF group, Security or SAPs member, no matter how small.
